Background and Topic
The outstanding role of the capital region Berlin-Brandenburg as an urban node within the Trans-European Transport Network is based on its location at the point of intersection of three of the EU’s nine multimodal core network corridors. This generates significant economic potential in terms of spatial development, yet also challenges: How can the increased transport volume be rendered socially and environmentally sustainable? What contribution can innovative propulsion systems make to this end?
These and other questions will be discussed on 27 November 2018 in the context of the capital region’s ‘Urban Node Dialogues’ in combination with a ‘Clean Fuel Corridor Road Show’. The workshop will plug into the Urban Node Dialogues of October 2014, March 2015 and October 2016.
Impulses for Berlin-Brandenburg will be identified on the basis of the capital city region’s pilot projects and examples of use of alternative fuels from various regions along the Scandria®Corridor. The aim is to illustrate which objectives are already being implemented, which initiatives have emerged and where demand for action remains.
The workshop in the context of the EU-funded project ‘Scandria®2Act’ comprises two programme parts:
• ‘Workshop’ on the context, state of affairs and use of clean fuels in the capital city region Berlin-Brandenburg;
• ‘Road Show’ on the use, compatibility and practical examples of clean fuels in the Scandria®Corridor in the Baltic Sea Region, presented during a boat trip on Berlin’s inland waterways;
• discussions and tour of an exhibition of various electric vehicles at Westhafen, the boat trip's destination.
Because of the international speakers and attendants, the programme part ‘Road Show’ will be conducted in English.?
