Turku School of Economics at the University of Turku, Operations and Supply Chain Management is the largest university level educator of logistics and supply chain management professionals in Finland. In addition to yearly student intake of around 40, the unit is actively engaged in research and outreach activities both nationally and internationally. The key areas of interest include supply chain management, transport and logistics, purchasing and supply management and trade and transport facilitation. The supply chains of 21st century, with their material-, information- and money flows are international by nature. To be able to get a grip of these flows, international cooperation is essential. At the same time, the challenges these supply chains face are by no means limited by borders. Therefore, the only way for improvement is through international cooperation and from transport perspective, the TEN-T cooperation is a natural forum for this. Moreover, public participation is one of the fundamental functions of the university, and the transnational cooperation on transport is a natural part of it. Public policy and its impacts on business is a key research topic within the department. As such, the alliance provides an interesting possibility to follow the interaction between the policymakers and business and to participate the cooperation already in the development phase. |

"The Sea and Maritime Studies is one of the six thematic entities in the strategy of the University of Turku. Participating a project such as Scandria®2Act strengthens the international cooperation of the university in this theme, and at the same time serves the regional interest of the university" says Head of Department, Professor Juuso Töyli. | |
