EUSBSR Strategy Forum

8-9 November 2016 the Strategy Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region was held.

Hosting more than 1,300 participants in Stockholm, EUSBSR flagship projects TENTacle, NSB CoRe and Scandria presented their cooperation approach in a seminar jointly organised with the Coordinator of Priority Area Transport, Thomas Erlandson. During the main session "Cooperation on the Transeuropean Corridors in the Baltic Sea Region" the cooperation of the flagships and the importance of the regional level involvement was highlighted by Christian Gaebler, Permanent Secretary for Transport and Environment, Berlin’s Senate.

During the seminar "EUSBSR flagships synergising on TEN-T corridors - a Recipe to embed the TEN-T in the BSR communities?" Horst Sauer as representative of the Joint Spatial Planning Department Berlin-Brandenburg presented the Scandria®2Act contribution to transport development in the Baltic Sea Region. He highlighted the importance of the urban nodes as interconnectors between the core network corridors and the regions. If not addressed sufficiently, they might become the future bottlenecks of the network. Thus it needs continued efforts to support their ability to connect long disctance transport to regional and local networks as well as to function as an entry point for regions further away from the core network. The three projects demonstrated that they are capable of involving stakeholders from around and to deliver benefit for the entire Balltic Sea Region.
