CEF Transport programme continues to lead the way in greening the European road sector.
The CEF Transport programme continues to lead the way in greening the European road sector by supporting the roll-out of alternative fuel stations.
In January 2020, in fact, a combined Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and electric refuelling infrastructure in a service station close to Milan (Italy) was inaugurated. This is part of a wider action that aims to create a network of 32 multi-product stations (CNG, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and electric fast chargers) throughout Italy, on four TEN-T Core Network Corridors: Rhine-Alpine, Scandinavian-Mediterranean, Mediterranean and Baltic-Adriatic. The charging infrastructure will be installed on existing refuelling stations owned by the beneficiary: Kuwait Petroleum Italia S.p.A. (Q8 - Italy).
The completion of the project is foreseen for 2022 and it will help bring forward the decarbonisation of the road transport sector through the promotion of alternative fuels.
